PLAYBOOK - COMMISSIONS

Close the month's commissions from one conversation.

Connect LetSign to Claude and your assistant reads the commission plan, assigns reps to deals, posts adjustments, lists the pay periods and marks the oldest one paid. Every step that moves money sits behind an explicit confirmation. You read the numbers, you say yes, and the period closes.

01

Connect LetSign to Claude

In claude.ai or the Claude desktop app, open Settings, then Connectors, then Add custom connector and paste https://app.letsign.ai/api/mcp. Or install it in one click from app.letsign.ai. The full setup, with the first proposal prompt, is in the Claude playbook.

02

Set the plan and each rep's settings

Tell Claude the rate, whether commission is earned on cash collected or on booking, and the clawback rule. It calls letsign_set_commission_plan and waits for your confirmation. A rep who needs a personal rate, or a coach who earns an override, is one more sentence through letsign_set_rep_settings.

03

Let the deals flow in

Proposals signed and paid through your Stripe attribute themselves to the rep on the deal, so most months there is nothing to assign. Subscriptions already running in Stripe can be scanned and imported as commission contracts, and those need a rep put on them with letsign_assign_contract_reps.

04

Close the month

Ask Claude to list the pay periods, read each rep's statement with its line items, post any adjustment that is due, and mark the oldest open period paid. Only the oldest open period can be paid, and once it is paid its numbers never change.

The plan rules, the clawback models and the pay-period chain are described on the commissions page. How a refund claws commission back is covered in the clawback guide.

PROMPTS

Three prompts that do the work.

Talk to Claude the way you would brief the person who runs payroll. The names below are examples.

PROMPT

"Set our commission plan to 10% on cash collected with proportional clawback, and give Priya a personal rate of 12%."

Claude calls letsign_set_commission_plan for the plan and letsign_set_rep_settings for Priya, and asks you to confirm each one before it saves.

PROMPT

"What did each rep earn in September, with the line items?"

Claude calls letsign_get_commission_earnings with the statement included, so each rep comes back with a net total and the line items behind it, each tied to a proposal and a Stripe reference.

PROMPT

"List the churn exceptions, waive the clawbacks caused by failed cards, then mark September paid."

Claude calls letsign_list_churn_exceptions, then letsign_waive_clawback for each failed-card case you approve, then letsign_mark_period_paid once you confirm the total.

WHAT CLAUDE CAN DO HERE

Every commission action is a tool.

Read and change the plan

Claude reads the current plan with its rate, basis and clawback rule, and explains it back in plain words. Any change you ask for becomes a new plan version, saved only after you confirm.

Assign reps and coaches

Claude lists the commission contracts, puts a rep on any deal that has none, and sets a coach who earns an override on a rep's future deals. Reassigning a deal recomputes the open period once.

Read statements and post adjustments

Claude pulls each rep's statement for any period, with the proposal and the Stripe reference behind every line. A spiff, a goodwill waiver or a correction is posted as a signed adjustment with a reason.

Close periods and waive clawbacks

Claude lists the pay periods, shows which one is next to pay, and marks it paid when you say so. A clawback caused by a failed card can be waived in one step after you review it.

Everything Claude does here you can also do by hand in the LetSign app, on the same plan and the same ledger. The full tool list is on the MCP server page.

THE CONFIRM GATE

Nothing pays itself.

Claude prepares the numbers. You confirm them.

Every tool that moves money or changes the plan requires confirm=true: setting the plan, changing a rep's settings, assigning reps, posting an adjustment, waiving a clawback, importing subscriptions and marking a period paid. Claude first shows you what it is about to do and the amounts involved. The write happens only when you say yes, and a request without that confirmation is refused.

A paid period never changes.

Once a period is marked paid its numbers freeze for good. A correction that comes later, a refund that lands after payday or a line you want to reverse, is posted as an adjustment in the next open period. The history stays exactly as it was paid.

FAQ

Commission questions, answered.

Does this need the Team plan?

Yes. Commission plans, pay periods and the commission tools in the MCP server are part of the Team plan at $19 per seat per month. A seat is one person on your team with a LetSign login, so each rep is a seat; clients and signers never are. The full rules are on the pricing page.

Can Claude pay the reps?

No. When Claude marks a period paid, LetSign records it as paid and freezes its numbers, so the statements become the record of what each rep is owed. The transfer to the rep happens through your payroll or your bank, exactly as it does today.

What if Claude gets a number wrong?

The ledger is append-only, so nothing is ever edited or deleted. If an adjustment was posted with the wrong amount, post a counter-adjustment for the opposite amount and the net comes right. Both lines stay on the statement with their reasons, so the history explains itself.

Does this work in Codex or Claude Code?

Yes. It is the same MCP server with the same tools, so any client that speaks MCP can run the loop on this page. Claude Code and Codex install it in one click from the LetSign app, and the server page lists every tool.

Where do the numbers come from?

From Stripe. Every paid invoice, refund and dispute is read back from your own Stripe account on each webhook and again nightly, and the open period is recomputed from that. Nobody types a figure into a spreadsheet, and Claude reads the same ledger you see in the app.

Plan prices and the seat rules are on the pricing page.
